Tired of entering your password every time you turn on your Android? Unlock With WiFi unlocks your Android when you're connected to your home WiFi network. What does "unlock" mean? It means you don't have to enter your password/pattern/PIN when you turn on your Android. When you're at home, or work, you don't need to worry about losing your Android, so why should you have to enter your password?

How does it work?

When you get home and connect to your WiFi network, your Android will unlock. Then when you leave, and the WiFi disconnects, the Android will lock again. You have to enter your password the first time after you connect to your WiFi network. This is so that if someone steals or finds your Android, they can't just bring it to your house to unlock it. After you enter your password once while connected to your WiFi network, you won't have to enter it again until you leave/disconnect. This is great for SMS texting!

What else does it do?

The following features are disabled in the free version, but in the full version, you can set a lock delay, for when you're not at home. The default delay is set to 5 seconds (you can adjust it), so when you turn the screen off, the Android won't lock until 5 seconds have passed. That way, if you remember something you forgot to do, you can turn it back on without entering your password.

Free vs Full

The free version allows you to define one home WiFi network, while the full version allows you to define unlimited home networks. You could use it home, work, etc. The full version has all the options enabled, like lock delay. Users of the full version are also entitled to email support. The free version does NOT show ads.

If you use a task killer app, make sure that UWW is either excluded from the auto-kill list, or included in the don't-kill list.

This app won't work if your employer enforces a password policy on your Android. Many corporate Exchange email users have this.

Unlock With WiFi is incompatible with Juice Defender, Green Power, BatteryFu and other apps. See the FAQ.

Unlock With WiFi doesn't work on the Samsung Fascinate if it's been upgraded to Android 2.2 (stock Samsung ROM). However, it has been reported to work if upgraded to Android 2.3. I have received a report that it doesn't work on the Toshiba Thrive tablet if it has been upgraded to Android 3.2. On Android 4.0, the app only works properly in Android admin mode. This is due to a bug in Android, not UWW.
