Wheredroidplus is a (not so) simple application to display your coordinates from the GPS receiver: latitude, longitude, heading, speed, number of satellites used and (it's its peculiarity) altitude and accuracy.
Altitude may be unavailable on some models (I tested it on Samsung Galaxy S and it works, even if it is less accurate than the one received by my tomtom).

Wheredroidplus is an ads-free version

Version 1.1.0 is quite usable as an altimeter and a compass.

Recent changes:
version 1.2.0 adds the ability to set a waypoint, indicate the direction and the distance to it, and displays an altitude graph as well. It can be used as a "where's my car" application

version 1.2.1 stores the waypoint permanently
